Revelation
I was working out at the gym, and watching those little TV's that are on the machines, and CNN or headline news unsure of which it was was showing a story about a soldier returning from duty and surprising his little girl. I saw that little girl grab a hold of his neck and hold on for deal life. I also saw a woman hanging on to her husband for dear life as he was being deployed. Now, it made me think.
Here I am in a country where another person cares enough about MY freedom and MY way of life to risk it all over seas, and here to ensure I wake up safe in the morning. Even you reading this have some armed forces, police, public workers who fight for what they believe is right. And, it got me thinking about my attitude lately. I have been upset and depressed this Christmas season because I miss my mother. It's hit me hard this year. She died all most 21 years ago. It's been festering this year and I've let it get to me. However, after seeing this story while working out at the gym I have realized that if they can make all these sacrifices for me, the VERY LEAST I can do is take care of myself and tell them thank you. They risk it all some of them lose their lives and I cannot manage to see to my basic needs because I am too busy. BAH, enough. I am not going to sell myself short, or not take care of me because it's easier to just do it tomorrow (I'm talking about taking time to thank God, to pamper myself, to understand, to think, to reason, to blog, to do all those things we put off little and big.)
I think that is all ways in fashion isn't it? If you need a reason to take care of you do it because right now at this moment someone is suffering so you can sit in that chair and read this. That there is a little girl who will not see her father, grandpa, brother, uncle, mother, aunt, sister, grandma ect because they are in the field fighting for your right to read this. Your very right to survive! I'm talking about more than American freedom, I am talking about every country in the world. There is someone out there right now who is suffering for you.
Just a thought and a weight on my mind.
